Tran and Chloe’s beautiful wedding at the Mansion on Turner Hill (Ipswich, MA)

SUMMER WEDDINGS ARE FANTASTIC.  Note to all:  I was not the commissioned photographer for this wedding.  However, I couldn’t resist taking a few snapshots.

Ceremony Location: Saint Columbkille (Brighton, MA)

Reception Location: The Mansion on Turner Hill (Ipswich, MA)

Here are a few photos from my buddy Tran’s wedding, the man who toured me around his college campus during my sophomore year of high school.  I ended up going to the university and LOVED it.  I had an amazing four years, with fantastic friends and memories to talk about for years.  I most definitely have him to thank for it.   His new wife, Chloe, is gorgeous, sweet and incredibly patient (she must be… to handle Tran)!  Har har. Kiddinggggg!  They’re so fantastic together!

Instead of a traditional wedding registry at a Crate & Barrel or a Target, they registered at Honeyfund.com, a honeymoon gift registry where their guests, in lieu of a gift, will donate money and “sponsor” a specific event, activity, etc.  Their traveled to Hong Kong, Bali, Singapore and Thailand for three weeks.  Some of the items on their list include:  a tuk tuk ride, thai massages, Volcanic Mud Body Treatment and of course, FOOD ON A STICK!  (Brilliant…)  I think they should be coming home soon.  I can’t wait to hear the stories!

Their wedding ceremony was in Brighton’s Saint Columbkille.  As programs, they made them into little fans!  Clever… and so useful on a hot Boston Day in JulyI have a soft spot for ring bearersKenny Chan!!
A vibrant bride with her dadI made Jason switch seats with me because he had the aisle seat.  It was kinda cool shooting from the audience.  It was refreshing!Jason, the fantastic couple, and me.  The banquet hall in Ipswich, MA (The Mansion on Turner Hill) was beautiful !It was a cute intimate wedding.  Loved it.After the ceremony, but before the reception, we had a bit of time to wander the grounds. …and so I snapped away.Jason poked around an old cabinet and found… BUBBLES!  So we spent a good amount of time enjoying the patio and blowing bubbles.
There was also a library slash kids room slash men’s smoking room
Jason picked up an ancient book and read to me.  It was a collection of old letters.  One that stands out to me was one from Abraham Lincoln to his brother, telling him that he would not lend him 10 dollars but counter offered him a loan plan if the brother got a job.  Hilarious book.  If I were to ever go back, I’d take note of the title and half.com it.

Like I said before, BEAUTIFUL banquet hallLook familar?  We just posted Heidi and Steve’s wedding teasers a couple of weeks ago!  See them here:  http://blog.nicoleschan.com/?p=767

I’ll be blogging about their wedding next.  It’s going to be a LONG post with TONs of gorgeous photos.
Yay Adrian!Woo hoo Kenny!Woot woot  Tran’s brother! They look so happy:)During wedding ceremonies, guests can tap their silverware against their glassware to make a “clinking” sound, signaling that the bride and groom need to kiss.  At this wedding, that was not the case.  In order for the guests to make the bride and groom kiss, they (as a collective table) had to get up and sing a song with the word “love” in it.  Table 1 and Table 7 (our table) rocked it. We eventually joined tables, formed table “17″, sang “I knew I loved you” by Savage Garden and then demanded TWO kisses.
I love children.  (Yes, even when they’re digging for boogers)How beautiful is the back of that dress?

A cute collection of details from the day  :)

Tran and Chloe, my best wishes to you.   *super hug*

“Is that a Husky… with SHOES?” “Not just any shoes, VIBRAMS!”

Let’s break up the wedding blog posts with something different. Presenting, the once 13-lb puppy husky, still a puppy husky, but more than doubled in size!  My baby, 9-month old, SLEDDER!:)

She’s 31lbs, and tiny for her size.  Generally, female Huskies range from 35-45.  However, we’ve met some wonderful friends at Boston Snow Dogs  (http://www.meetup.com/BOSTONSNOWDOGS/)  and it just seems that they tower over her!  Haha – It’s okay.  She’s still strong enough to pull my bike for me.  :)  For all Husky owners, BSD is a fantastic resource led by outstanding people.  They’re friendly, helpful and just a TON of fun!

Although she’s got a ridiculously long tongue, she doesn’t slobber – thank goodness.
One day, Sledder and I went on a pretty long bike ride.  ~25 miles.  Her paws were pretty swollen and a bit cut up after the ride.  We actually didn’t finish the ride.  I called Jason and had him pick her up, because I think she was in a ton of pain.  With enough googling and asking vets, I figured if we were going to do any more long distance cement or trail running, we’d have to get her shoes.  I’m not one to buy dog clothes, accessories or any of that jazz.   They only had the red ones at REI, so we ordered them online.  I figured black would be a bit less …”LOOK AT ME!!”Baller eh?  vibram soles.  Haaaah! When she put them on, she hated them.  Watching her walk was the funniest thing in the world!  She loves them now… because she knows she gets to go out, frolick, and pull.  I really don’t do much bike riding.  I just sorta sit and balance.  I’ll make sure to get some pictures/videos of her and my bike next time.

Nicole, it’s time to SIMPLIFY

In November 2009, I did a few new things.  I acquired a puppy.  Also in November 2009, I did more of the things that I normally did. I went to the park with said puppy and sat there watching her puppy-trot around with the other much larger dogs.  I spent a lot more time at home and cooked every weekend.  I invited my friends over and ate said cooking with my friends.  I talked to my mom for long periods of time.  I hung out with her and traveled on a regular basis to visit my brother.  It was nice.   Okay, that’s understating it.  IT WAS AMAZING.

It was then that I decided that I wanted to simplify my life.  It was my one and only New Year’s resolution.  I promised myself to take the first half of the year to reflect and understand what made me tick and not tick.  It was also the design and planning stage.  The second half of the year would be implementation of the action plan. <inhale>  I can do this.  <exhale>

For as long as most of my friends can remember, I’ve always been busy.  I’ve always felt busy. I thought I needed to feel busy.  As most of you know, my full time job as a management consultant doesn’t leave me much time.  I travel to the client site and live out of a suitcase/hotel during the week, every week.  (Note: Can you say… Plaaaatinum?)  Anyway, this leaves my weekends pretty crunched with photo shoots, friends, puppy, boyfriend, non-profits, volunteering and all of the rest of the stuff I cram in to create a semblance of a social life.

July 1st not only marks Canada Day, but also the 6 month mark of the year.  I’m happy to say that I’ve conjured up a 6-month plan to simplify.  It may shock a few, and Internet, I’ll share with you as I accomplish my mini milestones.  For some, it may not be shock at all.  For some that I’ve told, they’ve said, “I KNEW IT.  It was all a matter of time.”  Thinking about it gets me excited and scared like no other.   Repeat to self:  SIMPLE.  Keep it simple.  Breathe.  Please wish me luck.  I need every ounce of everyone’s support.  I know it’s not going to be easy. I know I’m going to be nerve-wracked and emotional.  For someone who enjoys having control and structure, this really puts things for a spin.

I’ve updated my blog template.  No more confusing designs.  Just clean, white, simple.  Focus on the images.  Focus on the words.

To all, Happy July 4th weekend.   I hope everyone stuffs their face with BBQ and enjoys the long weekend.  For all those that have to work,  I hope you still get a second to stop… and stuff your face with BBQ.  :)
